The nearest car park to SPARK is the Coppergate Centre Car Park which is managed by the City of York Council – we’re a one minute walk from the centre.
York has six Park & Ride sites with the first bus departing about 5:30am, and last bus returning at about 22:30pm.
The nearest Park & Ride to SPARK is the Grimston Bar service, stopping directly outside the Coppergate Centre on Piccadilly.
There are also Park & Ride sites at Askham Bar, the York Designer Outlet, Monks Cross, Poppleton Bar, and Rawcliffe Bar. All use an entire fleet of electric buses, and bus fares including parking.
We have limited cycle parking inside of SPARK towards the rear of our venue, however there is public bike parking outside the venue on Merchantgate.

Due to construction taking place on Piccadilly, the south-east bound lane of Piccadilly is shut between its junctions with St Deny’s Road and Merchantgate until Saturday 31st October 2026. Owing to this, on-street parking directly outside of our venue (between the junctions with St Deny’s Road and Merchantgate) is suspended.
During this time, a signed diversion is taking traffic via Merchantgate, Walmgate and St Deny’s Road.
SPARK and all of our traders remain open as normal. The nearest car parking to SPARK is Coppergate Centre Car Park (a one minute walk to our venue).
We’ve launched a brand new hub so that everyone can find easy ways to get home after a time out in York. You can scan the QR code in our venue or alternatively find the hub on our website.

We have made the decision not to screen the World Cup this summer, as we are keeping our spaces dedicated to our usual independent food, drink and community event experience.
Yes, SPARK is open on Mondays throughout the summer.
SPARK operates Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 10:30 pm. For the weekend, our hours are 8:00 am to 11:00 pm on Fridays, 11:00 am to 11:00 pm on Saturdays, and 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sundays.
No, SPARK is a vibrant community space and social enterprise with a host of businesses, pop-ups, and hirable spaces. In addition to food and drink, SPARK hosts diverse retailers such as Florable (vintage clothing) and provides a dedicated co-working environment. We also offer versatile venue hire for workshops and events, with spaces perfect for anything from cinema clubs and yoga classes to wedding receptions.

We do not take bookings but if you’re coming as a large group, do give us a heads up and our team on the day will do our best to accommodate. We have plenty of tables available!
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcomed at SPARK, co-working space included. We have dog bowls onsite. Feel free to ask if you need a refill!

Yes, SPARK is fully wheelchair accessible. We have accessible loos, accessible seating, a wheelchair lift and ramp entrance. If you require support while visiting SPARK, please let us know and we will be happy to assist!

Many individual traders offer student discounts, but you must present a valid student ID to staff when ordering in person (discounts typically cannot be applied via the QR code table ordering system)
It happens to the best of us – you set something down for just a second, and poof, it’s gone. Don’t worry! If you think you’ve lost an item at our venue, report it online. If it’s been handed in or found by our staff, we’ll reunite you with it.
Whilst we don’t currently offer a site wide gift card at SPARK, our traders now all participate in the York Gift Card scheme! The York Gift Card is the perfect way to show someone you care, while supporting local businesses in York.
