Women’s Market: Women Empowerment Program in Kenya

7 March

Together with Destiny Gates Foundation, we support two groups of women in Kenya, one in Gatanga and the other in Masai Mara. In August 2023, together with other volunteers, we proposed to the women to make tote bags with African prints. The project was a complete success, and you can currently find the tote bags in various locations in Spain and now also in York.

We love collaborating with these two groups because they provide a meeting place for women to share, laugh, and support each other. By purchasing their products, you help these women achieve economic independence and empower themselves, recognising and supporting their ability to decide their own future.

That is why this project is more than just selling bags; it is a testament to the strength and courage of these women who are transforming their lives and communities.

We have other empowerment projects in Uganda, and there is more information on our webpage.

What is Mbele?

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to reduce social inequalities in Kenya and Uganda . At Mbele, we strongly believe in equality and the unique value of each individual. We recognize that not everyone is born with the same opportunities, and that is why we are committed to work together in creating a more just and equitable world.

We strongly advocate for gender equality, women’s empowerment, transformation through education and universal access to healthcare.
