SPARK turns 8

4 May

Eight years. Not bad.

Eight years ago, our dads Sam and Tom, had big hopes, bigger dreams, and an enormous amount of graft. Together with some incredible people, they opened something new in York. What followed became a genuine destination, and a real community, right in the city centre.

We’re proud of everything we’ve built. And we’re still just getting started.

Oh, and our birthday falls on a bank holiday. The gods have spoken.

Here’s how we’re celebrating:

🧁 80 birthday cupcakes from our friends at Crumbs – free, first-come-first-served. Don’t sleep on it.

🍹 £8 cocktails. All day. Every single one. Tommy’s Marg? £8. BOHO Punch? £8. Guava Colada? You already know. We’re not making exceptions, just hoping our Finance Director doesn’t see this.

🎟️ Every hour from 12pm–9pm, we’ll be surprising 8 lucky guests with a complimentary drink token. Eight hours, eight winners, one very good day.

🎮 Quingo from 6pm, hosted by the critically acclaimed, entirely self-appointed quiz show host of the year: Sam Leach. General knowledge, chance to win drinks and money, questionable playlist. £2 per player – all proceeds going to support Merchant Taylors.

📸 The photobooth is free all day. No excuses. We know you guys will rinse it.

📖 And finally – a complimentary zine, celebrating eight years of everything SPARK has been, done, and stood for. Worth keeping.

It’s a big day. Come and share it with us.
