Who are Anthony Nolan?
Anthony Nolan is a charity that matches people willing to donate their stem cells to those who desperately need a life-saving transplant. For many patients, a stem cell donor is their best – and sometimes only – chance of survival.
Every 13 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Yet finding a matching donor isn’t easy. It relies entirely on everyday people signing up to the stem cell register, often without realising just how powerful that small action could be.
That’s where awareness, and accessibility, really makes all the difference.
What’s happening?
On Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May, Anthony Nolan will be taking over the Studios at SPARK for a dedicated recruitment and awareness weekend.
Across the weekend, visitors will be able to learn more about Anthony Nolan and the life-saving work they do, and hear real stories about people whose lives have been changed by stem cell donation. Most importantly, you are given the opportunity to sign up on the day to join the stem cell register, and to ask questions and find out what donation actually involves (spoiler: it’s often far simpler than people think).
Why this partnership matters
We’ve always been about more than food and drink. We’re about people. Partnering with Anthony Nolan allows us to use our platform, our footfall and our community to support something genuinely life-changing.
If just a small number of people who visit SPARK over that weekend decide to sign up, it could mean a second chance at life for someone, somewhere, who is still waiting for a match.
While Anthony Nolan are on site, all of our traders will be open as usual – so you can grab food, drinks and spend time with friends while also doing something incredibly meaningful.
