United by Taste is more than just a food business, it is a story carried across generations, oceans, and cultures, told through the language of flavour.
Their journey begins in Shiraz, Iran, a city known for its gardens, poetry, and food that lingers in memory long after the meal is over. It was there that a young girl name Shinaz first discovered her love for cooking. She would spend her days in her grandmother’s kitchen, learning the secrets behind the aromas that filled their home, the golden saffron rice, the slow cooked stews, the delicate pastries layered with nuts and honey. These recipes were not just food, but living traditions, passed from hand to hand, heart to heart.
From those bustling Shirazi streets, where food was shared with neighbours as a gesture of kindness, Shinaz carried her craft to York. In July 2025, she established United by Taste, with the dream of creating a space where Persian flavours meet the city’s rich diversity.
Here, every dish tells a story, from the freshly baked goods that echo the warmth of family gatherings to the savoury plates inspired by Persian street food traditions. Everything is handmade, prepared with care, and rooted in authenticity. But United by Taste is now just about food, it is about connection. It is about offering a welcoming space where everyone, no matter where they come from, feels included. It is about celebrating York’s multicultural spirit, bringing people together around tables where conversations flow as freely as tea, and where food becomes a universal language that speaks of belonging.
At United by Taste, we invite you to share in this journey, to taste the flavours of Shiraz, to feel the warmth of Persian hospitality, and to discover how one woman’s childhood passion has grown into a celebration of community, culture, and love.
